Recap: Ladies & Gentlemen (yes men can read this), this is going to be one amazing series.  105 different blog posts! I recommend you bookmarking this blog post. You wouldn’t want to get lost amongst the blessings and not be able to find your way back to the jumping off point.

What has been one of your latest personal challenges?  I know this sounds silly, but mine has been mornings.  For as long as I can remember I have much preferred evenings.  For the past couple of years, God has laid it on my heart that I need to give my morning to him.  To start my day in his word.  After many months of excuses, arguments, tears, and flat out depressed days; I finally gave up and said, “Lord, where do I start, what do I do?”  Oh boy, isn’t that how it always is with me.  Let me try this all on my own first Lord, then when I fall flat on my face, I’ll call you, don’t worry.

Well, after learning the hard way, I started with different parts of the bible, I went through some of Pslams, Proverbs, Mark, Luke, etc.   It seemed like God led me to scriptures each day that I needed for that day or time in my life.  The days that I didn’t really want to get up, I went grudgingly to my Bible, I read some and accused God of not talking to me that day.  I couldn’t understand why he was withholding knowledge from me.  I have learned before I ever open his word I must first get on my knees and pray.  Not sit in a chair comfortably, but on my knees in the quiet morning and pray for God’s guidance, pray that he opens my heart to his word, and I praise him for his mercies of continuous forgiveness for my lazy stubborn ways.  I have to pray out loud otherwise my mind wanders to other projects I need to work on later.  I have to pray for focus for to help clear my mind.  I have to do this each and every day, because each and every day I am a sinner saved by the grace of God, a God that loves me enough to think about me, spend time with me, carry me, hold me, let me cry on my knees to him and he never says, “Kelli, I am busy right now, come back later.”  He is the only friend, father, God that will never forsake me, never.

I have to say these past few weeks have been an especially joyful time in his word, because I have been able to share it with others, I have had the opportunity to pray with others and for others.  I have done this through the, Hellomornings Challenge.  If you, like me have had a difficult time with mornings and giving your mornings to God, then I highly recommend their fall session that starts in late August.  If you need someone now, please visit my facebook page and let me know and I will gladly add you to our summer session group going on now. Its never too late for reading his word and having accountability with other people that cheer you on and pray for you.

The Lord inspired this post through the bible study that we have been reading together as a hellomornings group. I just wanted to share a little bit of what he said to my heart this morning.

If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging symbol.

1 Corinthians 13:1

  1. People put a lot of stock in angels, we do not and should not pray to angels.  God said, no man can come to the Father, but by me.  He didn’t say through angels, he didn’t say to pray to angels either.  God may use angels for protection or messages or even to fight for us, but we never pray to them for intervention.
  2. If I speak in the tongues of men and angels… men and angels cannot give you Godly wisdom.  Only God can give you the correct wisdom.  Remember, Soloman in Ecclesiastes saying, “meaningless, meaningless…everything is meaningless.”  Everything but God.
  3. and God said, “but have not love”.  If you have not love all wisdom is meaningless.  If you have not love, when disciplining your children, with talking to your neighbor, when speaking with your husband, (you must do these things with love, God’s Love), then you are only lecturing, yelling or nagging, not helping in love.

Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

Mark 12:17

How often have I heard that verse in my lifetime and it has always been used for reference to explain what we should give unto, “Caesar.” As I read it this time, I saw, “and to God what is God’s.” I immediately prayed, “Lord, show me what is yours so that I may give it to you.”

What is our time on earth, but to glorify God. Our days are few upon this earth, whatever God’s calls you to do, do it to the best of your ability, and give glory to the King. My calling is to be a help mate to my husband to shepherd my family and children. To do this, I must start my day in God’s word and lead my children to do the same. Give Him your time and He will bless yours.

My children are not mine. God loaned them to me. I am sorry, but, “dadgum,” is an appropriate response. I am to shepherd their hearts and minds, to show them the creator in all things, to teach them of His love, grace, and mercy. In a recent book club I joined through Amanda Pelser and her blog, I have had the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the meaning of shepherding my children. I would recommend Ted Tripp’s book, “Shepherding a Child’s Heart,” to all parents. While it is not a manual for raising your children, it does have good insight.

I get caught up in possessions. I have found myself wanting… When in truth I can want for nothing. I feel like God, has presented me with this verse over and over and over again here lately, “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Do not make idols of your possessions, only follow Him.

Hands & Feet

I wanna be your hands
I wanna be your feet
I’ll go where you send me
I’ll go where you send me

This song by Audio Adrenaline, has been a long time favorite of mine. Pray that your hands and feet serve God everyday all day. If it is your calling to be in the mission field in some far away country then go. Although, I think this song also applies to everyday parents. You serve God by your testimony to your kids, husband, neighbors, friends, and that crazy lady in front of you at the supermarket (wait I am pretty sure I am that lady).

God blessed me with a husband that makes my eyes light up every time he walks through the front door. A husband that cares deeply for his wife and children. Knowing all of this, I have put my husband on a pedestal acting like he is Jesus. He doesn’t need that kind of pressure. Let your husband be the man God wants him to be, not who you want him to be. Love him, respect him and pray for him.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all of your mind and with all of your strength.
Mark 12:30

  • When you use your heart. Show God’s love.  Open your heart to Him, let his love shine through you to others.
  • Give your soul to Him!
  • Keep your mind clean and pure, do this out of love for God.
  • When you use your strength, use it for the glory of God.
